3,500 people cheered the new University World Champion of Rugby Sevens. Portugal defeated the Russian University team 35-17 with the support of the Portuguese crowd who came from everywhere to see the Final of the 4th World University Championship Rugby Sevens.
Marianas Variety learned yesterday that the Spanish women’s team became the new World University Champion after they beat the Russians 17-10. “This is the result of many team efforts during this year”, said the team captain.
The Championship finished with the passage of the FISU Flag to the next host of the 5th World University Championship which is in France in 2012.
The 5th World University Baseball Championship is arranged to start on July 29, 2010 until August 8, 2010 in Tokyo, Japan. Each country selected is authorized to enter: one (1) team of twenty two (22) players. Also the countries participating in the Baseball tournament must bring with their delegation and at their own cost: one (1) international IBAF umpire. The competitors must be born between January 1st, 1982 and December 31st, 1992.
The 5th World University Bridge Championship is set to start on August 2, 2010 until August 9, 2010 in Kaoshiung, Chinese Taipei. For each tournament, each country is authorized to present two (2) teams. The event will be disputed by teams of four (4) players and each team will meet each other and five (5) officials. The competitors must be born between January 1st, 1982 and December 31st, 1992.
The 11th World University Rowing Championship is to kick off on August 13, 2010 until August 15, 2010 in Szeged, Hungary. The delegation may include the following officials, according to the participants entered: up to nine (9) participants: two (2) officials; up to twenty (20) participants: four (4) officials; over twenty (20) participants: five (5) officials. The competitors must be born between January 1st, 1982 and December 31st, 1992.
And last but not least, the 3rd World University Wood ball Championship is ready to take place on August 22, 2010 until August 26, 2010 in Kampala, Uganda. In each event a country may enter the following number of players: Team: 6 players for males and 6 players for females; in the individual category 3 players for males and 3 players for females, and in the mixed category 2 pairs (2 men and 2 women). The competitors must be born between January 1st, 1982 and December 31st, 1992.
