Yamada, Sanciangco power IT&E past ARFF, 72-57

Joemar Tumaquip started the final quarter with a three-point shot and Sanciangco pumped in six more points to pull IT&E away from ARFF leading to their 72-57 victory.

Earlier in the first quarter, Yamada’s hands were blazing as he fired 13 markers. However, ARFF’s Jeff Quitugua and Luis Cepeda rampaged in the last few minutes and helped ARFF took the lead.

After Quitugua basketed his two free throws, Cepeda fired a two-pointer then, Quitugua widened the gap with a shot from the three-point territory.

Sanciangco sizzled with 10 points in the second quarter leading IT&E to bounce back. Then, he had to take a break in the third quarter when Bruce Berline picked up where he left off, chipping in five points.

Elmer Esdrelon stretched the lead with a three-pointer less than two minutes to the ball game and IT &E kept its record clean.

Sanciangco led the IT&E assault with 16 points while Yamada added 15 points.

Quitugua’s resistance led to finish with 30 points for ARFF while Jerome Reyes and Frank Robert chipped in 8 points.

Meanwhile, technical problems stalled the scheduled doubleheader between Commonwealth Health Center and Tinian

The scoreboard, according to Basketball Association of Northern Mariana Island board member, Abner Venus said the shot clock malfunctioned the last three minutes of the first game.
