THE youth riders of Saipan and Guam performed well in the 2023 Annual Turkey Cross held at Cow Town Raceway Park over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Guam’s rising stars Julian Lane and Jonathan Aguon came to win and bagged the Mini Class titles.
Lane showcased proper control and smooth executions to maintain a steady speed to top the Mini I Class with a perfect score of 75.
Saipan’s Elleayah Cruz shadowed Lane throughout the two-day event, but could not gain enough momentum and had to settle for second place with 66 points.
In third place was Guam’s Riley Butler with a total of 60 points.
Guam’s second youth title was claimed by Aguon whose flawless performance earned him the Mini II Class title with 75 points.
For their part, Saipan’s Billie Pangelinan and TJ Ferrer continued their friendly rivalry. Ferrer finished the first two heats in second place, but did not race in the third heat, which handed Pangelinan the overall second-place spot with 62 points. Calix Cruz was bumped up to third place with 56 points while Ferrer ended in fourth place with 44 points.
Guam was denied a sweep by Saipan’s Anella Igitol who ruled the Mini ATV Class with 75 points. Guam’s Kyan Mayo finished second with 66 points.
But Guam ruled the Peewee Classes.
Kyan Mayo claimed the Peewee I Class title by earning 75 points while Giana Lane came in second with 44 points. Rekk Butler also signed up but could not race due to an injury.
The Peewee II Class had only one rider, Guam’s Royce Butler, who still gave a good show before claiming the title.
Saipan stood strong in four wheels as Nakoa Torres bagged the Peewee ATV Class title as the solo rider.
Billie Pangelinan also went home with a title as she came out on top in the Power Puff Girls Class with a perfect score of 75, besting Guam’s Jeriah Guzman who finished second with 66 points.
Women’s Class
In the Women’s Class, Marianna Wenden of New Zealand bagged the title with 72 points. In second place was Saipan’s Nanako Celis with 69 points; Maribel Igitol was third with 60 points; Guam’s Dana Tamago was fourth with 50 points; and Saipan’s Merissa Rasa was fifth with 36 points.
