Zapanta who was trailing on Sunday with 695 pin falls made it up big time during the final roll-off day right from the very start.
He topped in Game 1 with 223 pinfalls, went short of just a few pin falls behind Alex Cacdac in Game 2 then recovered a lot in Game 3 as he knocked down 237 pin falls.
Tallying a total of 861 pin falls, Zapanta put up a cushion just good enough keep distance ahead of Paul Pangelinan who came second with 822 pin falls.
Alex Castro and Robert Talavera who were both leading Zapanta by a few pin falls in Games 1 and 3 tied for third place as the finished with a total of 820 pin falls.
Edward Baluyan and Lito Teodoro also made it to the top five earning 777 and 764 points respectively.
At least 52 male bowlers played in the two-day monthly roll-off.
In the women’s round, Carol McKenzie wore the May Budweiser Queen of the Lanes crown.
She trailed Gloria Omechelang, Diane Chong and Mel Regis in Game 1. She improved in Game 3 with 180 pinfalls then, tallied a total of 687 pin falls to win the title.
Mel Regis knocked down 659 pins to win the second place and Ron Cal had 649 pin falls to settle for the third place.
Also making it to the top five were Yho Villavicencio and Cora Muna who knocked down 647 and 642 pins respectively.
