From his loss to Zack Cruz in the 2008 finals tournament, Zapanta who was still ranked one of the No. 1 bowlers of last year kept bouncing back and needs seven more monthly titles to win to bag this year’s title.
During last Sunday’s finals Zapanta bested four other young bowlers from Game 1 all the way to Game 4.
Zapanta scored 182 pin falls against Marion McKenzie’s 173 in Game 1. He topped again in Game 2 with 194 pin falls; 192 in Game 3 and 188 in Game 4 to garner a total of 756 pin falls.
Zapanta brought home the $15 first prize.
McKenzie scored a total of 595 pin falls and won $10.
Nikko Gutierrez settled for third with 547 pin falls and Troy Verdaguer, fourth with 539 pin falls. They both won $5.
In the King and Queen of the Lanes, Manacop was behind Kitz Barja and Nick Gutierrez in Game 1. But he improved in Game 2 during the second day with 234 pin falls and Game 3 with 242 pin falls.
Manacop topped Game 4 with 279 pin falls to garner a total of 916 pin falls. He won $90 and a case of Waioka Tuna.
Richard Leong placed second with 854 pin falls and won $30.
Barja settled for third with 808 pin falls and brought home $25 and a case of Waioka Tuna.
Omechelang scored 702 pin falls to top the ladies division and, Emi Williams placed second with 699 pin falls and Gina Sablan, third with 685 pin falls.
Omechelang brought home $65 and a case of Waioka Tuna, Williams, $30 and Sablan $20.
