THE Misters claimed their second title by topping the 2nd Annual “Sets for Pets” Beach Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at the Crowne Plaza beach.
Team Misters is comprised of Tyce, his wife Angie and their sons Logan, Blake and Dylan Mister.
They blew through the competition with ease to win the coveted title for the second year in a row.
It was a double-elimination tournament with the Misters taking down Prac Squad, 21-7, before defeating Snoopy, 21-9.
But Snoopy managed to stay in contention after outplaying Bad Beaches, 21-10, to set up a rematch with the Misters in the final round.
Despite Snoopy’s valiant efforts, they were still no match for the Misters.
When it came down to defensive teamwork, the Misters were supreme. They controlled most of the possessions with powerful spike finishes and well-placed shots to again beat Snoopy and win the crown, 21-14.
The tournament organizer, Boonie Babies Recue is a foster/rescue rehabilitation organization on island that raises money to promote animal welfare in the community.
When Variety asked Grace Keilbach, co-founder of the organization, why she and sister Aria chose beach volleyball for a fundraiser, she replied, “I just personally love volleyball and Logan Mister is a big partner and event coordinator of ours so with him on the team we had to do some beach volleyball.”
Logan Mister is a silver medalist in the beach volleyball event of the recent 2022 Pacific Mini Games.
“We probably raised about $500 and that’s from players and sponsors,” Keilbach said. “We have a lot of local business and organizations that we are thankful for. They held the inaugural event last year which had a bigger turnout. We are just happy to be here with the folks that care. It’s not what we hoped for, but everyone who is here has just been giving it their all and is dedicated to the cause, which is all we could ask for.”
