MP United edge Southern United in women’s soccer

THE MP United Football Club bested the Southern United Football Club, 1-0, in a Flores-Pee Luwal (Intermediate) Division game of the Dove Women’s League on Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

It was a battle of possession as both teams continuously fought for the upper hand from start to finish.

The first half was filled with several exchanges, but with neither team able to break the ice in the first 20 minutes.

However, a minute later, MPU turned defense into offense as they managed to catch SUFC off guard, allowing Margie Camu  to find the back of the net and give her team the lead, 1-0.

Throughout the rest of the game, SUFC tried to equalize and came close.  MPU, however, held down the fort to seal the deal.

Despite the loss, SUFC still sits at the top of the food chain with four wins, one draw and one loss while MPU is fourth overall with three wins, two losses, and a draw.

Shirley’s vs Paire

Shirley’s Football Club shares first place with SUFC after beating the Paire Football Club, 5-1.

After a slow start, Shirley’s managed to gain control thanks to Jeraldine Castillo who scored at the 9th minute mark.

In the second half, Castillo scored three consecutive goals at the 37th, 39th and 41st minute mark to extend Shirley’s lead, 4-0.

 PFC, however, continued to give it their all, and their efforts were rewarded at the 50th minute after Shirley’s scored in their own goal, allowing Paire to go down with a fight, 1-4.

Tan Holdings vs Matansa

The match between Tan Holdings Football Club and Matansa Football Club ended in a 0-0 draw.
