GAME 2 of the World Championship ended as a peaceful draw after 23 moves.

The game was a very dull affair and Gukesh did not try to be ambitious in this game with the black pieces. Ding Liren felt comfortable with the white pieces and did not feel any pressure at all.

It was noted by Ding that his second, super GM Richard Rapport from Hungary, prepared 1.e4 and convinced him to play it for game 2.

Ding still has surprises for this match and it will be interesting to see what he will use against Gukesh in game 3 and further rounds.

After game 3 is the first of the rest days.

The current score match score after 2 rounds is 1.5 – 0.5 in Ding’s favor,

White: Ding Liren (2728)

Black: Gukesh D (2783)
