NICK Sablan has claimed the much coveted 2021 Ace of Aces title of the Saipan Golf Association following a two-day tournament on Jan. 22-23, 2022 at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
On day one, Sablan shot a gross of 78 and followed through the next day with a gross of 80 for a gross total of 158. With a handicap of 16, Sablan’s net score was 142.
Edward Sablan scored a gross of 99 on day one and 91 on day two for a gross total of 190. With a 52 handicap his net score was 138, but because Edward Sablan was not a 2021 Ace of the Month winner he had to settle for a first place finish and the January Ace of the Month title.
In second place was Joe I. Sablan who, like Nick Sablan, had a net score of 142 thanks to a 54 handicap. But Nick Sablan came out on top because he had a better gross total.
Finishing third was Ed Manibusan. He scored a gross of 76 on day one and 79 on day two for a gross total of 155. With a handicap of 12, his net score was 143.
A total of 13 golfers played on both days of the tournament.
In the side events, the Closest to the Pin winners were Frances Sablan for hole #4; Nick Sablan, holes #3 and #13; Joe Sablan, hole #6; Alex Tudela, holes #7 and #11; and Rick Kautz, hole #15.
For the Longest Drive, Alex Tudela claimed hole #3; Nick Sablan, holes #2 and #18; and Alex Tudela, hole #18.
The 2022 SGA February Ace of the Month Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Kingfisher Golf Links. Show time is 9 a.m. and tee time is 9:30 a.m.
