NO Excuse remain one of the teams to beat in the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Open League after bagging their fifth win by thrashing No Choice, 20-2, on Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
It was more of a homerun derby for No Excuse as the ball went flying in the top of the opening inning. Dennis Cabrera, Franco Nakamura, Byron Kaipat and Audie Maratita each contributed a homerun to seize the lead, 6-0.
No Excuse resumed fire in the second inning with eight more runs. Jun Kaipat, Branon Hocog, Kimo Angailen and JD Magofna joined the onslaught alongside Nakamura and Maratita who hit their second homerun of the day to stretch the gap, 14-0.
No Choice broke the silence in the bottom of the second, but were only allowed one run while No Excuse scored six more runs in the top of the fourth led by Maratita’s two-run homer.
No Excuse were finally silenced in the top of the fourth and No Choice’s Bennett Williams hit a solo homerun, but it wasn’t enough, and the game had to end via the 10-point mercy rule, 20-2.
Also undefeated are Kebruka, which outlasted Mamaaw, 8-6; and Just4Fun, which outplayed Ready Mix, 15-5.
