Pacific Auto advances to round 3 of basketball tourney

PACIFIC Auto’s hoopsters are off to a great start in the NMI Rollers Basketball Association Men’s Tournament as they have advanced to round three after their double-digit victory over the K2 Ballers 61-47 on Saturday at the Koblerville gym.

Pacific Auto’s point guard Chris Esteves orchestrated most of the offensive plays with  all-around performance including two triples, a handful of assists as well as a steal.

The K2 Ballers returned fire and through sheer hustle they dominated the boards with countless rebounds by Russel Hocog, Ryan Mendiola, Dame Deleon Guerrero and Ichitaro Faisao who turned defense into offense.

However, toward the end of the first half, Pacific Auto started to pull away as Juan Camacho found his footing underneath the rim with back-to-back buckets while team-mate Kenta Castro’s midrange game also helped his team seize the lead, 20-17, by halftime.

In the second half, Pacific Auto continued to deliver on the offensive end.

This time the bench played a huge role as James Camacho, Gus Castro, Syl Teregeyo and Pete Lizama delivered to widen their team’s lead.

The K2 Ballers gave a good fight with Mendiola bombing consecutive three-pointers while Deleon Guerrero, Dion Lizama and Faisao scoring buckets to cut the deficit from 20 to 12 points.

But Pacific Auto managed to retain a comfortable lead en route to a convincing 61-47 win.

Also joining the winner’s circle were the OG Rollers who defeated Lakay 47-32.

For their part, the Sixers trounced Socho 59-22; the Blue Haus thumped the Rollers, 52-47; Marianas Dental Center edged Jacob’s Bakeshop & BBQ, 46-44; and The Game was all over  for Balabois, 51-38.
