PETER “Dung” Tenorio claimed the Amigos Golf Club Ace of Aces title for the second year in a row by topping the Ace of Aces tournament on Dec. 17 and 18, 2022 at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
Tenorio played well during the first day of the tournament as he cleared the east course with one eagle, two birdies and four bogies for 2-above par and a gross score of 74. Sporting a handicap of 4, he led the competition with a net score of 70.
On day two, he sank four birdies and ended with a gross score of 75, a net score of 71, and a total net score of 141.
“I was able to win because I finished strong in the end,” he said. “I only won by one stroke. After nine holes Jay Muna was actually winning but it was decided in the last four holes,” Tenorio added. “It was windy and tough but it’s always nice to win against these guys because there are a lot of good golfers among them. It’s always nice to win back-to-back.”
Tenorio also shared his thoughts about the Amigos Golf Club. “They are always consistent and are one of the most active clubs on island,” he said. “It was a long season playing 24 games and it’s tough because these guys are always out to play.”
This year, Tenorio is dedicating his win to his son. “He’s been following me a lot for practice. I want him to play as well — it’s a good game for the youth.”
Jay Muna shadowed Tenorio closely as he ended day one with a gross of 78. With a handicap of 6, his net score was 72. On day two, he ended with a gross of 76, a net of 70 and total net score of 142.
The Amigos Golf Club held its annual banquet at the Rendezvous Restaurant of Saipan Vegas to recognize the winners of its events.
