THE Queens of Diamonds overpowered the Hot Shots, 24-4, in the women’s division of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
The Queens were simply unstoppable. Kiana Aldan ignited her team’s momentum with a triple and managed to reach home plate due to a Hot Shot error.
The Queens’ lead only grew larger as the rest of its batters rounded the bases, highlighted by Rachel Salalila’s two-RBI single for an 8-0 lead before the Hot Shots could stop the bleeding.
But the Queens resumed their onslaught with four more runs before turning over the inning with a commanding 12-0 lead.
The Hot Shots tried to stay in the game but could only score one run. Defensively, they improved as they allowed only two runs in the top of the second inning, but the Hot Shots could only score another run before the third inning.
Soon, the Queens were back in the groove with another explosive offense in the top of the third, scoring 10 runs. The Hot Shots scored two runs before the mercy rule kicked in to end the game early. The Queens won 24-4.
