THE Queens of Diamonds are one win away from claiming the women’s division title of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League after notching game one of the best-of-3 championship series against the Hotshots, 7-6, on Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
The Hotshots drew first blood with a solo run in the opening inning. But the Queens established control and filled the bases with Bert Camacho breaking the ice as third at bat with an RBI single while Ami Cabrera followed up with a two-RBI single. Team mate Allana Sablan then earned another RBI for a 4-1 lead.
Th Hotshots kept the pressure going in the top of the second as the Queens struggled to get a good grip, letting three runs slip by.
Th Queens scored another run in the bottom of the third but the Hotshots evened the score, 6-6, by the end of the fourth with two runs contributed by Erica Tenorio and Brittany Lizama.
In the seventh and final inning, the Hotshots were allowed only two hits while the Queens were saved by Rachel Salalila’s clutch RBI double that brought in Kiana Aldan for the game-winning play, 7-6.
