Rey Hermogenes wins August 8-ball tourney

REY Hermogenes topped New Bamboo’s August 8-Ball Monthly Tournament  with a 5-0 record on Saturday at Saipan Vegas.

Hermogenes was unstoppable. His ability to place the balls where he wanted them to be, and connect from any distance were his main weapons as he defeated Danny Miranda, Roel Barretto and Ben Norita to reach the semi-final round.

Jerry Soriano, a previous champion, also performed well, dispatching Anson Smith, Rowel Mariano and Nolan Cultura before facing Hermogenes in the semis.

It was an exciting match, but in the end, Hermogenes came out victorious.

But Soriano quickly shook off the loss by outplaying Cultura to earn a rematch against Hermogenes in the championship round.

Soriano, however, could not find a crack in his opponent’s defensive wall and had to again bow down to Hermogenes.

As the champion of the month, Hermogenes received the first place trophy and $500 cash while Soriano settled for the second place trophy and $250 cash.

Nolan Cultura, who placed third, took home a trophy and $100 cash while Lito Pangilinan claimed the $50 fourth prize.
