Rustlers win SBA Tuesday division title

THE Ideal Signs JC Rustlers claimed the Tuesday Division title of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after defeating the VFW IT&E Destroyers, 9-6, Tuesday at the VFW Bar.

The Rustlers quickly established control with Rowel “Cobra” Mariano and Chester Hamoy earning the first win in the opening Partners 8-Ball game by outplaying the  Destroyers’ Nolan Cultura and Roman Rodriguez, 1-0.

But the Destroyers made up for their rough start with a 2-1 run in the following Singles 8-Ball game as Rodriguez “ran the rack,” clearing all the balls in a single turn to even the score, 2-2.

The Rustlers tried to regain control with another win in the second Singles 8-Ball game, but when it came to the one-on-one scene, the Destroyers proved to be more efficient as they earned another 2-1 run to stay alive. It was second deadlock of the night, 4-4,  and the seesaw battled continued in the next two games.

But after  the Rustlers won their fourth consecutive partners game, they managed to keep the fire alive thanks to Hamoy and Mariano’s clutch performance which clinched the two wins needed to secure the match, 9-6.

Although there were still two rounds left, the Destroyers bowed to the inevitable.

In the battle for third place, the 9 Eleven Rebels triumphed over Bamboo NSA Kabalen, 9-7.
