SENEN Pangilinan toppled the rest of the competition with ease to finish undefeated in the New Bamboo Bar’s March 8-Ball Tournament on Sunday at the New Bamboo Bar of Saipan Vegas.
Pangilinan was simply unstoppable as he picked off each opponent in his path.
He found his stroke in round 1 as he pocketed balls with consistency for a quick victory over Rey Hermogenes who fell into the losers bracket.
Pangilinan then defeated Joseph Achas and sent Randy Sablan to the pits.
Jerry Soriano also notched three consecutive wins. After besting Roman Rodriguez, Soriano outclassed Nolan Cultura and Marvin Achas to set up a championship match against Pangilinan.
Pangilinan and Soriano seemed evenly matched as they defended and attacked which resulted in several lead exchanges.
At crunch time, however, Pangilinan calmly sank the 8-ball to claim victory.
As it was his very first loss, Soriano still had one more chance.
He tried to stay alive in the second face-off but Pangilinan’s momentum was unstoppable.
The March champion went home with $500 cash prize along with a trophy while Jerry Soriano, who settled for second place, received $250 cash. Randy Sablan, in third place, won $100 cash while fourth placer Marvin Achas received $50 cash.
