SHERLYN Jones shot a net of 67 to win the CNMI Women’s Golf Association August tournament Saturday at Coral Ocean Resort.
Jones managed to set the tone early as she cleared the front nine with a gross of 41 — two strokes ahead of her closest pursuer.
Consistency was the key as Jones shot a gross of 42 on the back nine for a gross total of 83. With a handicap of 16, Jones’s net score was 67.
Clara Chang, who shot a gross of 44 on the front and back for a total of 88, had a 21 handicap which gave her a net score to 67.
However, in the score card playoffs, Jones outshined Chang who settled for second place.
In third place was Sunny Son who shot 43 even on both sections of the course. Her gross total was 86, but with a handicap of 18, her net score was 68.
The next CWGA monthly tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort west course.
