SHERLYN Jones became the first recipient of the Amigos Cup on Friday during the Amigos Golf Club’s annual banquet at the Rendezvous Restaurant of Saipan Vegas.
At the beginning of the 2022 season, the club decided to do something different by adopting a points system. Members who played a total of 24 sanctioned games in a year will earn points based on their scores. This format benefits players who play often.
In 2022, Jones had a dominant start, winning the qualifier and the ace round to claim the January Ace of the Month title.
And based on her overall performance, she is the deserving recipient of the perpetual Amigos Cup.
Among the club’s 46 golfers, Jones scored a total of 2,206.5 points in 2022.
In second place was Fred Salavaria with a total score of 2,102 while third place was claimed by Joe Sablan Jr. with a score of 2,055.
The rest of the top 10 were Rick Sablan, 2,007.5 points; Frank Sablan, 1,986.25; Peter Tenorio, 1,978.5; Syl Ada, 1933.75; Jay Muna, 1,916; Ned Norita, 1,636.5; and Joe Torres, 1,565.
