SAIPAN International School won all its matches against Tanapag Middle School in the TakeCare Interscholastic Middle School Badminton League Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex.
In the boys singles category, SIS’ Hunter displayed his skills with the racket against TMS’ Jack.
Hunter’s precision returns constantly sent the shuttlecock over the net with success, forcing Jack to commit errors.
The only time Jack was able to score was when Hunter made an error on his end.
But Hunter played more consistently and won the first set, 11-4.
More of the same was seen in the second set with Hunter in complete control en route to an 11-5 victory.
In the girls singles category, SIS’ Lina earned the spotlight by overwhelming TMS’ Bell.
In the first set, Lina quickly established control, allowing her to cruise to an 11-0 victory.
In the second set, Bell started to find her rhythm but was only allowed three points before Lina secured the final win needed, 11-3, to put SIS ahead with two match wins.
It was a more intense battle in the boys doubles category as SIS’ Jackie and Frank faced TMS’ Jack and Ian in three sets.
In the first set, both teams exchanged leads before SIS pulled away to clinch the win, 11-7.
But it was not over for TMS as they fought back in the second set. Neither team could hold onto the lead and it came down to the final possession during which Jack slipped in the clutch play to seal TMS’ victory, 11-10.
Despite TMS’ valiant efforts, SIS remained focus and finished strong in the third set with the help of Frank’s four consecutive points to defeat Tanapag, 11-3.
SIS’ final match win was collected in the mixed doubles category with Lina and Hunter besting TMS’ Jack and Bell in two sets 11-9, 11-2.
