SAIPAN International School and Oleai Elementary School notched most of the top spots in the 800m events on the opening day of the PSS-NMA All School Athletics at the Oleai Sports Complex on Tuesday.
In the girls division, SIS and OES shared the spotlight.
OES’s Kaylen Taflinger led the two-lap race in the U9 girls 800m from start to finish, recording a time of 3:23.37.
In second place was her schoolmate Marianne Eugenio who clocked 3:31.55 followed by SIS’s Naveah Arriola in third place with a time of 3:46.27.
Completing the top five list were William S. Reyes Elementary School’s Kyra Tarkong with a time of 3:58.78, and schoolmate Amelie Ogumoro, 4:24.86.
In the U12 girls 800m, SIS’s Leilani Ruszala claimed first place with a time of 3:31.65 to edge her schoolmate, Windsor Gross, who came in second, 3:32.52.
OES’s Erricka Long placed third with a time of 3:38.49; Argeanna Flores was fourth, 3:57.90; and SIS’s Adelee West was fifth, 4:00.03.
In the boys division, SIS topped both categories.
In the U9 boys 800m, SIS’s Ezra West secured first place with a time of 03:29.26 followed by Koblerville Elementary School’s Cherokee Kin, 3:34.81; OES’s Jayden Concepcion, 3:38.36; OES’s Jacob Borja, 3:44.22; and WSR’s Kaiden Leon Guerrero, 4:21.53.
KOB’s Deal Aldan ruled heat 2 with a finish time of 3:15.12, followed by SIS’s Gabriel Walsh in second place with a time of 3:29.60. KOB’s Richardson Mungwaath came in third, 3:36.48; SIS’s Tristan Bertoncini was fourth, 4:03.08; and WSR’s James Bowie was fifth, 4:16.97.
In the U12 boys 800m, SIS earned another top spot after Quido Jambor finished first with a time of 3:03.07 followed by OES’s Alexander Salundaguit, 3:18.77; KOB’s Napu Pangelinan, 3:24.04; Iku Benavente, 3:25.80; and Anthony Aldan, 3:27.71.
