PAIRE Football Club, along with MP United Football Club’s teams 1 and 2, clinched separate wins against their opponents during Saturday’s debut of the NMI Football Association Spring Youth League U13 Boys Division 8v8 at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
MPU 2’s Quido Jambor and Kanoa 1’s Jayson Tagabuel battle for the possession during a U13 youth league game at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
Paire had one of the tougher battles on opening day but managed to outlast Kanoa Football Club, 3-2.
The action started at the very first minute with Kanoa quickly pushing forward as soon as they grabbed hold of the possession.
Within seconds, the team was rewarded with the first goal of the day courtesy of Akoni Matsumoto.
Paire responded with tighter defensive lines to prevent Kanoa from generating a run.
However, Kanoa found the back of the net, once again, at the 17th minute mark with D’Artagnan Enerio at the finish to extend their lead 2-0.
Paire, for their part, launched their offensive, and after three minutes of shot attempts, the team finally got on the scoreboard after their relentlessness caused Kanoa to accidentally score an own goal.
Just a minute later, Paire’s Jazzroy Villagomez followed up with his team’s second consecutive goal for a 2-2- deadlock at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Paire made sure no errors were repeated as they closed nearly every gap and did not allow any open shot opportunities.
Paire also turned each transition into an offensive play with Jayten Villagomez eventually delivering a quick shot to give his team a 3-2 advantage.
Although there was still a lot of time to return the favor, Kanoa failed to equalize and had to settle for defeat.
MPU 2 vs Shirley’s
MPU 2 edged Shirley’s Football Club 2-1.
Shirley’s drew first blood early in the first half as Bennet Haro broke through and scored at the 7th minute mark.
But MPU 2’s Quido Jambor snuck in a goal at the 23rd mark to even the score, 1-1, at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Jambor scored again while his team focused on keeping Shirley’s off their turf while successfully using the clock to MPU 2’s advantage.
MPU 1 vs THFC
MPU 1, for their part, outplayed Tan Holdings Football Club, 7-3.
In the first half, MPU 1’s Lukas Lee delivered two goals and Taiga Namai-Scoggins scored a goal of his own while their team allowed THFC only one goal.
Leading 3-1, MPU 1 managed to keep the tempo at their preferred pace as they scored four more goals in the second half.
Namai-Scoggins took over with back-to-back goals at the 34th and 36th minute marks followed by another goal courtesy of Lee two minutes later.
THFC replied with two goals of their own thanks to Kian Estolas and Emerson Brillo. But that was the end of their scoring offensive while MPU 1’s Francisco Maritita added the icing on the cake with a goal at the 47th minute to end the game with his team on top, 7-3.
