SAIPAN Southern High School remains the top team in the girls division of the Public School System Interscholastic Outrigger Race Series after the second round on Saturday at Kilili Beach.
But the star of the day was Kagman High School which ruled the 500m and 1000m races.
In the 500m event, KHS cleared the preliminary round by a few strokes ahead of the competition to take the top spot with a time of 03:27.550 and bag five points.
SSHS trailed closely behind, clocking 03:31.070 to garner three points while Marianas High School settled for third place with a time of 03:37.610 to earn one point.
In the final round, KHS finished nearly 10 seconds ahead of the competition with a time of 03:33.210 to again receive five points.
SSHS came in second at 03:40.290 for three points while MHS finished third with a time of 03:59.870 for one point.
In the 1000m event, SSHS took the lead in the first lap. However, during the second turn, KHS executed well to overtake SSHS en route to another first place finish with a time of 07:44.410 to earn five points.
SSHS came in second with a time of 08:11.480 for three points while MHS was third with a time of 08:16.660 for one point.
KHS was dominant once again in the final round, clocking 08:34.250 for five points while MHS edged SSHS to finish second at 08:53.750 for three points. SSHS came in third at 08:59.010 for one point.
Despite KHS’ outstanding performance on Saturday, SSHS still leads in the team standings with a total of 33 points. KHS is in second place with 29 points and MHS is third with 19 points.
