SUFA continue to move up in the team standings of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League after overtaking Tokahao in the final inning to win, 14-13, Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
The action started right away with both teams hitting a homerun each in the opening inning that ended with SUFA in control, 3-2.
SUFA added two more runs in the top of the second inning, but Tokahao squeezed in a run in the bottom of the second to remain within reach.
The seesaw battle continued and the score was a 9-9 deadlock by the end of the sixth inning.
In the seventh and final inning, SUFA aimed to secure the win with several hits to score five runs and seize a comfortable 14-9 lead.
However, Tokahao’s Jeff Cruz unleashed a three-run homer followed by a solo homerun by Jojo Attao to close the distance once again with only one out made.
Fortunately for SUFA, their defense stepped up when they were needed, earning their second out via flyball to third followed by a nail-biting strikeout for their third and final out to secure the win, 14-13.
Jude Dickenson led the stat sheet for SUFA with two homeruns and four RBIs while Tokahao’s Jojo Attao and Jeff Cruz recorded two and one homeruns with three RBIs each.
Also joining the winner’s circle were the Man Amigos who pummeled Aimeliik, 21-3, and the Red Men who trounced the Salty Boys, 25-10.
