Sufa hands Man Amigos first loss

SUFA stunned the Belau Amateur Softball League’s top team, the Man Amigos, who suffered their very first loss of the season, 11-12,  Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.

Sufa came into the field ready and it showed as its players were the first to draw blood in the bottom of the first inning.

Errors got the best of  the Man Amigos as they were unable to secure the ball, allowing Sufa’s Jerome and Audie to run home unscathed for a 2-0 lead.

But the Man Amigos made sure they were not going through one more inning empty-handed as they pulled through in the second inning with a single homerun before both teams went silent.

The real action did not start until the 5th inning.

The Man Amigos finally got their rhythm flowing as Bill C. broke the ice with a two-run homer, bringing home Fuji and taking control 3-2.

They did not stop there as Jess G. connected a hit which led to an error on Sufa’s end for an RBI double to extend the Man Amigos’ lead, 5-2.

Sufa’s players stopped the bleeding by squeezing in two runs of their own as they took advantage of errors made by the Man Amigos.

In the 6th inning, the Man Amigos seemed to have the game in the bag as they added a stack of runs to widen their lead.

Errors continued to haunt Sufa’s players as they let Pete Sablan slip through home base while Bill C. connected his second homerun of the day to give the Man Amigos three consecutive runs. Another homerun was made by Alvin T. with an RBI single for a total of 6 Man Amigos runs and an 11-4 lead.

With only two innings left, Sufa did not show any signs of waving the white flag. It was Pat who rekindled the flames for the team as he sent the ball flying for a three-run homer to reduce the deficit.

Sufa then prevented Man Amigos from gaining any runs in the top of the 7th.

It was Sufa’s chance to shine.  Galuan started his team’s rally with a double that was shortly brought in by Audie who hit a single.

The bases continued to be filled as Jude and Ray each earned a single with the latter gaining an RBI. With two bodies on bases,  Pat fired the ball way out of reach for a 3-run homerun to give his team a come from behind 12-11 victory over the Man Amigos.

Hagu Lamun vs Asahi

Hagu Lamun continues to climb the ladder as its players earned their third win of the season, slipping past Asahi 6-5.

It was a fairly even match as a few lead exchanges were made. Asahi’s Ken broke the silence in the first inning with an RBI single which was quickly answered by Dennis of Hagu Lamun to even the score, 1-1.

Asashi then took control in the 2nd inning with three runs assisted by Ebech and two huge errors by Hagu Lamun.

However, Hagu Lamun returned to the scene in the top of the 5th with three runs to even the score once again.

Asahi tried to regain the advantage with Ebech’s homerun single, but when it came to crunch time, Hagu Lamun was able to deliver with two runs. The game-winner came from Casper’s single which brought home teammate Ben to give Hagu Lamun a 6-5 victory.
