SUNG Ho Kang and Joung Hoon Park topped the low gross category of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament on Saturday at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.
Kang and Park started very strong. On the front nine, the pair recorded a total of six birdies on holes #1, #2, #5, #6, #8 and #9 for a 6-under par and a gross of 30.
They nearly mirrored their performance on the back nine by sinking five birdies on holes #10, #12, #14, #16 and #18 for a 4-under par and a gross of 31.
With no bogeys committed, Kang and Park combined for a gross total of 61 to clinch the top spot.
In second place were Timothy Hubert and Stussy Shiroma with a gross total of 62. The pair struggled slightly on the front nine, sinking birdies on hole #4, #5 and #9 to end 3-under par and a gross of 33.
But on the back nine, they found their swing and recorded five birdies and an eagle to end with a gross of 29 and a gross total of 62.
Finishing third were Joe and Xerxes Camacho. The pair scored an eagle on hole #5 and notched a gross score of 32. They scored another eagle on the back nine for a gross of 31 and a gross total of 63, good enough for third place.
