TanHoldings wins M-League soccer title

THE TanHoldings Football Club won the Division A championship of the Men’s M-League Spring 2021 season after trouncing the Old B Bank 6-1 at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Sunday.

TanHoldings simply manhandled the Old B Bank from start to finish.

After the first 10 minutes of the game, the THFC players decided to apply more pressure and were eventually rewarded for their efforts.

The scoring spree started at the 12th minute mark. Ball movement was the key to their attack as they created several openings, one of which left Martin Jambor unguarded, allowing him to score.

The Old B Bank players tried to stay on their toes to stop the onslaught, but it did not take long before THFC regained the offensive rhythm once again, this time with Brandon Tenorio capitalizing on the break to sink the shot at the 18th minute mark for a 2-0 lead.

Things seemed to slow down after that but before the end of the first half, THFC managed to squeeze in one more goal at the 38th minute mark courtesy of Mareko Tekopua to expand THFC’s lead, 3-0.

After the halftime break, THFC’s players picked up where they left off and soon found the back of the net thanks to Ryuto Yanai to further expand the gap, 4-0.

The Old B Bank finally broke the silence eight minutes later thanks to John Tam’s solo highlight reel, but it was still not enough to douse THFC’s offensive flames as its players retaliated with two more goals at the 72nd and 74th minute marks. THFC’s fifth goal was accidentally scored by the Old B Bank while the final goal was delivered by TanHoldings’ Michiteru Mita to seal the deal, 6-1.

THFC ended the season with 11 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses.

Stamina

Finishing second overall was   U18 Team A which ended the season by overpowering the Paire Football Club 5-0.

The young athletes’ biggest asset was their stamina. At the 13th minute mark, U18 Team A’s Kohtaro Goto scored the opening goal and followed up with a second shot four minutes later to give his team a 2-0 lead.

The fun did not stop there as  Akira Kadokura joined his team-mates on the scoreboard by contributing a goal.

It was Richard Steele’s turn at the 36th minute mark to score and widen his team’s lead, 4-0.

The second half was no different with PFC unable to score while Steele squeezed in one more goal at the 49th minute mark before the game ended in a convincing 5-0 victory for U18 Team A.

Taking third overall was the MP United Football Club which clobbered the Kanoa Football Club, 6-0.

During the game, MPU scored three goals at the first half with Joshua Abragan leading the attack and scoring two goals while Razeff Altamirano delivered the third.

In the second half, MPU’s Sunjoon Tenorio, Bada Lee and Alan Hinson each contributed a goal to secure a 6-0 victory for their team.
