KELVIN “The Big Hit” Fitial overpowered his opponent, Ben Schneider, in the first round of their Brawl International 2 heavyweight bout Friday at the Dusit Thani Resort on Guam.
Fitial, who won via TKO after inflicting 30 unanswered blows on Schneider, showcased his superior boxing skills with great head movements and well-timed counters.
After unleashing short shots, Fitial connected with a looping hook which staggered Schneider.
With Schneider down on his left knee, Fitial finished him off with a flurry of punches that forced the referee to stop the fight.
“I knew he was a tough opponent — I’ve watched his fights,” said Fitial in an interview with Variety. “But when I went for the looping hook, I knew he was rocked so I went in to finish it.”
Fitial said the event was a little different than what he was accustomed to as there was “no animosity” in the air and the spectators were well-dressed.
What made it even more special was that his wife and child flew to Guam with him to watch his fight.
“My family was here with me — that feeling was priceless,” he said.
Another NMI fighter who saw action on Friday was Albert Jackson who went toe to toe with Guam’s Sam Emmanuel in a hard fought kickboxing bout that ended in a draw.
“I was proud of his fight,” Fitial said, referring to Jackson.
Fitial would like to thank God, Brawl International, his family, Trench Tech, IT&E, Pacifica Insurance, Gold’s Gym, Marianas Variety and Health City Guam for their support.
