Track and Field Open Challenge begins this Friday

NORTHERN Marianas Athletics will kick off the road to Oceania Cup 2023 with the Track and Field Open Challenge this Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10, at the Oleai Sports Complex Oval track and field.

Registered athletes will compete in running, jumping, and throwing events. The action on Friday starts at 5:30 p.m. with the javelin throw event and the long jump followed by the 100M sprints at 6 p.m., the 1500M at 6:20 p.m., the 400M at 6:45 p.m., and the 3000M steeple chase at 7:15 p.m.

On the following day, the shotput and 800M event will start at 4 p.m., followed by the 200M event at 4:20 p.m., the 200M at 5 p.m., the discus throw at 5 p.m., the 3000M at 5:30 p.m., and the 4X100M relay at 6 p.m.

“As we approach the Oceania Athletics Association Cup, this will be a good pre-competition meet preparation for our local athletes and coaches — it’s considered a dry run,” said NMA Secretary General Robin Sapong.

Oceania Cup 2023 and Oceania Masters Athletics will be held on Saipan from June 22 to 26.
