True North Covid 8 wins darts title

TRUE North Covid 8 bagged the Bud Light Cup as Inter-Government Division champion of the SEDA League after rallying past True North Dart Magic 8-6 Friday at True North Bar.

Third-ranked True North Dart Magic managed to set the tone early in the finale of the Bud Light Cup tournament as they excelled as a team.

Stand Conde and Elton Santos won the opening games while Carlos “Corona” Cervania and Nate Torres notched victories in the Partners 501 Double In/Double Out match to take a 2-0 lead.

Dart Magic tried to expand the deficit but fifth-ranked Covid 8’s Julian Matsutaro and Manny Degracia fought back in the Singles Crazy Cricket match where they triumphed in the one-on-one battle to get on the board and split the four rounds evenly.

Dart Magic tried to withstand Covid 8’s onslaught by splitting the next Partners 701 match once more. However, Covid 8 continued to excel in the individual matches as  John Rebuenog (not Frances Magofna as earlier reported) joined Matsutaro and Degracia in a 3-1 run to tie the match, 6-6.

Covid 8’s sudden comeback ignited the team’s momentum as they stole the show in the final Partners Regular Cricket match. The precision throws of Degracia and Matsutaro outgunned Dart Magic’s Conde and Santos while Nobert Pua and  Henry Sablan  (not Hector “Wathehec” Efrain as earlier reported) kept the rhythm flowing with their second straight win to secure victory and the Bud Light Cup, 8-6.

In the quarterfinals round, Covid 8 bested True North Enforcers 8-4 and then took down True North CUC Power in the semifinals 8-2.

Dart Magic eliminated 6JMS DOC High Risk in the quarterfinals 8-0 and won the semifinal match against 6JMS CNMI Guardians 8-2.
