THE Twins bagged their first win in the 2023 Saipan Baseball League U12 Tournament by outlasting the Little Cubs, 21-20, Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Baseball Field.
The game was filled with nonstop action from start to finish.
The Little Cubs drew first blood with two runs in the top of the opening inning, but the Twins replied with three runs to take charge. Their lead continued to grow as pitcher Maximus Tomokane silenced the Little Cubs with three consecutive strikeouts. The Twins then added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning for a 5-2 lead.
But the Little Cubs worked their way back up, scoring five runs in the top of the fourth to snatch the lead.
However, their fire was doused when the Twins claimed seven runs to regain control, 12-7.
The back-and-forth exchange continued as the Little Cubs scored four runs while the Twins notched nine runs to stay afloat, 21-11.
The Little Cubs then scored nine runs in the sixth and final inning, but the Twins made the right pitching change as Damien Sablan struck out three batters to secure the win, 21-20.
The Braves, for their part, claimed their second win in the tournament by trouncing the Toros, 18-1.
