THE Saipan Baseball League’s 2023 U12 Tournament will begin this Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Baseball Field.
Adult baseball has finally been revived on Saipan so this time Shine Tenorio and the rest of the SBL board want to get the youth involved as well.
The U12 tournament is for players 9 to 12 years old.
“We hadn’t had Little League in a while so we wanted to get something going — we wanted to create a Little League environment. I just want the kids to come out, play, and have fun,” Tenorio said.
Six teams will compete in six-inning games starting this Saturday: the Toros and the Twins at 9:30 a.m.; the Blue Jays and the Braves at 12 p.m.; and the Little Cubs and the Comets at 2:30 p.m.
Tenorio said he is grateful to the Saipan Baseball League, Tan Holdings, Northern Marianas Sports Association and staff, along with Derron Flores and Alvin Takai, for working hard to make the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Baseball Field up to par and ready for the tournament.
