CHILDREN of all ages displayed their swimming skills in the Saipan Swim Club Triple Crown Open Water Swim Series on Saturday at Guma Sakman beach.
In the male division of the 100m race, 15-year-old Chengwei Zhang seized the spotlight by completing the course with a time of 2:32.11.
It was a close race as 16-year-old Zihang Zhang was only four seconds behind with a finish time of 2:36.43 and was followed by 15-year-old Jiahui Li who clocked at 4:46.08.
Completing the top five list were Zigian Cheng at 2:48.86 and Tianwei Li at 2:56.95.
In the female division, it was 12-year-old Prashika Pandey who finished first with a time of 2:48.28.
In second place was 17-year-old Linda He who crossed the finish line nearly 30 seconds behind at 3:18.96 while Corrie Zhai came in third with a time of 3:19.80.
Jenny Wu followed behind, clocking at 3:20.36 while Hannah Zhang was fifth with a time of 3:20.93.
In the 50m race, the swimmers were separated into two heats. In heat 1, Vivian Chung topped the U10 female division with a time of 1:22.47 followed by Catalina Frink with a time of 1:27.06 and Sera Guerrero at 1:35.72. In the male division, Simon Shindo took the top spot with a finish time of 1:23.67 while Xing Chen Wang crossed the finish line in second place at 1:32.58 while Seungwoo Lee was third with a time of 1:47.10.
In heat 2, which was for those who are 10 years old and above, Shen Jie had a solo finish in the female division, timing in at 1:31.31 while in the male division, John Chen took first place with a time of 1:16.70 followed by John Hu in second with a time of 1:19.86 and Zhenpu Zheng in third with a time of 1:21.46.
In the 20m distance, the beginners had the chance to experience a quick race.
In the male division, Leo Li led the pack with a finish time of 1:01.71 followed by Antonio Heras who clocked at 1:03.43 and Shane Mabutas in third place with a time of 1:04.25.
In the female division, Andrea Ryu took first place with a time of 1:04.55 followed by Daria Shatskova with a time of 1:11.31 while Fiona Yu was third at 1:13.40.
