“There will be no more long waiting time on the part of our customers,” shop entrepreneur Julieta Cunanan said.

Genoveva’s, one of the oldest and fashionable barber shops on Saipan, is located on the second floor of the D’ Elegance Café in Garapan.

Genoveva’s new staff members are hairstylist and barber Gerald Belino, barber Edwin Madredijo, and Chona Paraiso.

“They are all considered the cream of the crop of their batch,” Cunanan said, adding that both Belino and Madredijo were among 34 successful candidates from the 150 applicants hired in Canada while Paraiso was supposed to work in Qatar.

But they chose Saipan after learning about the bright opportunity in serving the community on island, Cunanan said.

“They not only want to serve island residents, they are also willing to devote some of their time to volunteer their service in some community events,” Cunanan said.

She said Genoveva has expanded its barber shop and improved the ambiance of its exterior to give customers a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

Belino, 38, who hails from Naujan, Oriental Mindoro province, has 16 years of experience as a hairstylist and barber.

“I started as an assistant in a barber shop,” he said. He soon developed his style and in 2009, he received the Hair Asia cut and color blow dry award.

Among his clients are sports and showbiz celebrities, including actor James Reid.

Madredijo, 35, is from Quezon City, Metro Manila and has 15 years of experience as a barber.

His specialty is hair art but nowadays most of his customers prefer the fade haircut.

“I want to maintain and uphold the integrity of Genoveva’s by providing the utmost satisfaction to our clients,” Madredijo said.

Like Belino and Madredijo, Paraiso, 33, said it is also her first time to work abroad.

As a beautician, she said she looks forward to make her customers happy.

With 10 years of experience, she has already mastered the art of hair and makeup, manicure and pedicure.

Paraiso said nail art, rebonding, color and highlights, cut and style and makeup are among the services she offers to the community on Saipan.

The new three staff members join the team of eight barbers, hairstylists and beauticians that makes Genoveva’s one of the island’s most popular beauty parlors and barber shops.

Established in 2001, Genoveva’s will continue to maintain its excellent services and improve its facilities, every now and then, to cater to the needs of its regular and new customers, Cunanan said.
