A remarkable mom and public servant

“ARE you proud of me?” my wife asked after the Public Service Recognition Week for the Governor’s Office on Friday, and all I could say was “very much!” There were no exact words that could strongly show how proud I was. As I sit and ponder at the many splendid things she has done for the past 10 years, I realized that there is much more I could do to show her that I am very proud of her. Last year, she wrote an interesting article for our anniversary. This time, I am writing to congratulate her.

At home, she is a mother to a beautiful two-year-old daughter and a wonderful wife. She gives her family the strength and support that bind them closer together. She knows intuitively when there is something wrong; and hastily comes to their needs to comfort, advise and/or ease their troubles. She manages the house and performs chores such as cooking, cleaning, and washing to name a few. She always puts them first before herself. We are her number one priority.

At work, she is the administrative specialist II. Nevertheless, that does not limit her to the things she does. From administrative duties and responsibilities, she willingly takes up new tasks. She handles the quarterly release of the CAO Quarterly Report, Meeta Eyoor Newsletter, CAO Web page, Employment Assistance Program, and act as a representative for her office at government events or non-profit organizations for a worthy cause. She welcomes clients and helps them. She carries out tasks promptly and accurately, shows professionalism, has a positive employee character, and is an exceptional public servant of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. She always puts her work first before herself. It is her number one priority.

All this she carries out with so much energy and enthusiasm, without complaining.

Now how could I not be proud of her? She is a remarkable person and I pray for every success in her endeavor. She makes me proud everyday knowing that our daughter has a positive role model to look up to, families to congratulate her, co-workers to appreciate and recognize her, and the public who comes across her ambition to help them one way or another. They all realize that there are people like her who gives the word “Public Service” a whole new meaning. I am most fortunate to have her and I am very proud of her.

To my wife, Jocelyn Kaipat:

Congratulations in receiving the 2002 Division Employee of the Year for the second year in a row, and a Very Happy Belated Mother’s Day.RUDY S. KAIPAT
