“We are very thankful to get an opportunity to serve our community,” its new President Wendell Posadas said.

As soon as Posadas was elected in July 2022, he immediately laid out the Rotary Club’s plans and projects for the next few months.

Among the projects that are laid out according to Posadas include a new youth center, an extension and added pathway to the Kagman park and the possible construction of beach ramps for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Formerly the Rotary Clubs vocational services director, Posadas has helped in various community outreaches towards enriching the lives of students in both private and public schools.

Among his projects include distributing dictionaries for grade school students which is a project that started in 2010.

He was also part of the Rotary when it established the Rotary Peace Memorial and the development of the Kagman Family Park.

Last month, under his leadership, the Rotary Club hosted its second annual “No Tricks, Just Treats Halloween Fun Night” since after the pandemic. 2,000 Halloween bags filled with treats were distributed during the event.

He said now that the pandemic is almost over, the Rotary Club will have more flexibility to execute its projects.

“After the pandemic, we can now serve better our community, we can have our weekly meeting, and fundraising event face to face,” He said.

According to him, they are working on hosting the long awaited “Vegas fundraising event” which he said has been suspended for the past 2 years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Being the RCS president or any other community organization, is a responsibility, obligation, and commitment to serve-above-self and to lead the group to accomplish our mission and vision to serve our local and global communities,” he said.

For Posadas, there are many good things to be thankful for like life itself, family and friends as well as many material blessings.

However, he said true blessing comes when one is given an opportunity to serve in the community.

He said the Rotary Club is thankful to the community for the opportunity to serve them.

“The Rotary Club of Saipan wishing everyone a harvest of blessings and a bountiful thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving!” he said.
