Karidat

Formed in 1980 as part of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, Karidat evolved to be a non-profit organization helping all those in need, offering important community programs such as the Family Service Program which provides family and marriage counseling, emergency clothing, food and shelter assistance, advocacy, referral, and case management.

Marianas Variety’s late founder Abed E. Younis served as a Board Director for Karidat from 1990 to 2012, almost 22 years representing the business sector and this year, the nonprofit organization is the main beneficiary for the Abed E. Younis Golf Memorial Tournament this April.

Karidat also offers Protection and Advocacy Program, United Way Emergency Food and Shelter, Protection and Advocacy, Victim Advocacy Program, Victim Hotline Program, Guest Workers Assistance Program, House of Manhoben, Guma’ Esperansa, and the Karidat Food Pantry.

“MV is a great community partner because it speaks to the same commitment to life, a vision of hope, and a call to action as Karidat. Karidat has enjoyed a positive forum throughout the years to share the successes and the challenges faced by our clients in the community; whether those clients are victims of crime or an individual or a family needing rent, food, clothes, or something in between” said Executive Director Lauri Ogumoro.

“MV staff is always attentive and responsive to Karidat and that space for articles and press releases for Karidat’s happenings always seems to be available (thank you), as well as MV seeking out our insight on happenings and events in the community,” she said.
