PUES OK 4Nate will continue to fight their way to the top of the heap in the King of the Diamonds Labor Day Softball Tournament presented by Roil Soil Marketing after they outlasted Toka Hao 8-6 on Sunday at the Capital Hill baseball field.
Toka Hao were the first to draw blood in the top of the second inning courtesy of Marco’s two-run homer which brought in James to give their team a 1-0 lead.
Halfway through the game, Toka Hao seemed to be in total control. But in bottom of the fourth inning, Pues OK 4Nate suddenly found their second wind.
The action started with Ben first at bat with a clean single followed by another by Brandon. Then AJ broke the silence with a line drive past second base letting the two previous batters reach home safely.
Toka Hao failed to stop the bleeding as three more runs were made thanks to Franko and Bill’s two-run homer bringing in Jun to give Pues OK 4Nate the lead, 6-2.
But Toka Hao did not give up and scored two more runs in the top of the fifth with an RBI and another two-run in the top of the sixth.
However, Pues OK 4Nate fired back with a two-run homer of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning to maintain the safe distance.
Bolstered by strong defensive play, Pues OK 4Nate then secured the win, 8-6.
Angels vs Homies
The Angels also notched victory by edging the Homies, 11-10.
The Homies started strong, squeezing four runs, two of which were provided by IJ’s homer.
The Angels answered with a two-run homer of their own thanks to Dung.
The Homies seized the lead again with two more runs, but the Angels retaliated with a three-run homer provided by Ko to trail by one only, 5-6.
The back and forth continued with the Homies still ahead 10-8 by the bottom of the fifth inning.
After a successful defensive display, Angels found the strength to bounce back by slipping in two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to even the score 10-10.
Then after his team bagged the three outs needed, the Angels’ Awang saved the day with a solo homerun to seal the win and eliminate the Homies 11-10.
