‘Refaluwasch for Good Governance’ endorses candidacy of Corina Magofna

MEMBERS of the “Refaluwasch for Good Governance” have expressed their full support for Precinct 3 House candidate Corina L. Magofna.

On Wednesday, at the 13 Fishermen Pavilion on Beach Road, Garapan, the group officially endorsed Magofna as their candidate. Among those who attended the gathering were former Speaker Pedro R. Deleon Guerrero, Rep. Vicente Camacho, and Rep. Denita Yangetmai.

Felix Nogis, the designated spokesman for the group, told Variety that they are supporting Magofna, a Democrat, because “she has integrity, and we know she will not stoop low, and not just be a puppet to this [Republican] administration.”

Nogis added, “We need somebody who can stand her ground, and do what is right for the public.”

Road conditions and the need for youth centers are some of the Precinct 3 issues that need to be addressed, Nogis said. “Look at our roads, some are in poor condition. And we critically need youth centers to accommodate our students specially after school. In Oleai/San Jose there is no youth center where children can go after school.”

Nogis said members of the Refaluwasch for Good Governance want accountability and transparency in government.

He said the group is comprised of “independent minded voters.”

“We are not affiliated with any party, so we have the option of picking the right person for public office,” Nogis added.

For her part, Magofna told the group that if she wins the special election set for Oct. 16,  “I would be more than happy and willing to listen to every concern and issue that our community is facing. I am committed 100%. I am ready to work with you all.”

The Precinct 3 House seat became vacant after Republican Rep. Ivan A. Blanco passed away on July 23, 2021 at the age of 44.
