(JKPL) — The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library hosted a successful Game Day at Your Library on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Game Day is an annual celebration of games, play, libraries, and learning in honor of the late JKPL computer programmer Roy D. Rechebei. All activities were free and open to the public.
Game Day featured the following highlights for teens and adults: Magic the Gathering and Prodigy hosted by the Information Technology Center. Meanwhile in the Children of Our Homeland Center (a.k.a. Children’s Library), children and their families played a variety of the following fun-filled games: Wii, Bowling, Media Enhanced Books or AV2, trivia games, and so much more! As a treat, the Saipan Marianas Alpha Leo Club were celebrity guest readers for Saturday Storytime.
Special thank you to the CNMI Public School System for providing meals to go for Saturday’s programs and activities.
Library Director Erlinda C. Naputi shared, “We hosted a successful Game Day on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021 in honor and in loving memory of our dear friend Roy Rechebei’s birthday. Thank you to Roy’s family for their continued support of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, and for the entire community for being a part of our celebration. Si Yu’us Ma’ase.”
2021 Game Day was coordinated by computer programmer Joey Songsong and computer specialist Aldebert Deleon Guerrero. In compliance with safety and health measures during the Covid-19 pandemic, all activities followed safety and health measures with social distancing measures.
