GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres on Friday said he would wait for a subpoena to be served before taking “appropriate action.” He did not elaborate.
In previous interviews, the Republican governor denied violating any law.
For its part, the Democrat-led House Committee on Judiciary and Government Operations has approved the issuance of subpoenas to the governor, Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, first lady Diann T. Torres, the governor’s executive secretary Frances Dela Cruz, Commonwealth Utilities Corp. Executive Director Gary Camacho, Department of Public Safety Commissioner Robert Guerrero, as well as six police officers.
The committee also approved the issuance of a subpoena duces tecum to the governor, the first lady, the lieutenant governor, the CUC executive director and police officer Joey Cruz.
The date of the committee hearings will be subject to the availability of the House chamber and members of the committee.
The committee is investigating the governor’s public expenditures, including his first class and business class travels, the reimbursements he received for certain expenses, and the utility expenditures at his private residence.
