DPS: No suspect yet in death of woman

THE Department of Public Safety has no suspect “at this time” in its investigation into the death of a 20-year-old woman whose body was found on the shoulder of a road north of the former Kan Pacific swimming pool in Marpi at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27.

“We encourage anyone who has any information to visit DPS and speak with a traffic investigator, as any information, no matter how little it may be, helps the case,” DPS public information spokesman Dre Pangelinan said.

“If they want to remain anonymous, they can call 234-7272,” he added.

Variety learned that police have interviewed individuals who may have witnessed the incident.

Other sources also told Variety that “drag racing” was being held in the area on Tuesday evening involving juveniles who were said to be also drinking alcohol.

DPS did not identify the victim, but multiple sources said her name was Sophia Patricia Aldan Demapan.

She was found unresponsive, without a pulse and with multiple injuries.

It was not clear if she was a hit-and-run victim, but DPS said tire marks were noticed at the scene.
