Jesse Guerra, Ray Matsunaga, Cesar Sangalang qualify for 8-ball championship

FOR winning the qualifiers held last week at Saipan Vegas, Jesse Guerra, Ray Matsunaga and Cesar Sangalang have been added to the list of players who will vie for the championship of the New Bamboo August 8-Ball Tournament

Jesse Guerra secured his spot in the finale after clinching a 4-0 record on Wednesday last week.

Guerra was precise against his first two opponents, defeating Sangalang in round 2 and  Danny Sablan in the next round to reach the semifinals.

It was Guerra, however, who handed Sangalang his first loss of the night. In their re-match, Soriano failed to put up a fight as Guerra pocketed the win and a spot in the championship.

On Sunday, it was Ray Matsunaga’s turn to shine.

Matsunaga found his stroke early with three consecutive wins, beating Guerra, Phil Kalen and Soriano.

But in the semifinals Matsunaga lost to Pangilinan. Matsunaga then shrugged off the loss by defeating  Soriano which allowed him to face Pangilinan in a rematch, and secure victory.

The other player who will see action in the finale at the end of the month is Cesar Sangalang who had a flawless 4-0 performance.

Sangalang easily took down Matsunaga, Guerra and Kalen to reach the finals. Playing against Soriano, Sangalang was untouchable and triumphant.
