FOLLOWERS of Falun Dafa on Saipan will gather at the AK/San Jose intersection on May 13 to celebrate the 22nd World Falun Dafa Day and the 29th anniversary of the group’s founding.
The Saipan Falun Dafa Association said it will “display banners showing the grand spread of Falun Dafa to the world.” The group will “spread the Gospel of Falun Dafa, and distribute truth materials and small lotus flowers as small gifts to be distributed to local residents.”
The group also welcomes local residents to participate, its spokesperson, Catherine, said. She asked Variety not to mention her full name.
She said their group organized motorcades on May 1, 8 and 9.
Another motorcade will be held on May 13 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by roadside waving, Catherine said, adding that there will also be motorcades on May 15 and 16 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Catherine said besides raising awareness about Falun Dafa, they are also calling for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s repression and dictatorship in China.
In addition, she said, they are also celebrating the 70th birthday of Falun Dafa Association founder, Li Hongzhi, and the “physical and mental health that Falun Dafa has brought to mankind in more than 100 countries around the world.”
Catherine said Li Hongzhi believes in the universal values of “truthfulness, compassion and forbearance” that are already evident in the “kind hearts of the residents of Saipan.”
According to its adherents, Falun Dafa, which is also known as Falun Gong, is an ancient Chinese spiritual practice rooted in Buddhist traditions. It consists of “moral teachings and five gentle exercises that offer an effective and rewarding way to improve your health and energy levels.”
In 1999, China’s Communist regime outlawed Falun Dafa and began persecuting its followers.
Falun Dafa said since then, hundreds of thousands of its practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained and tortured by the Chinese Communist government.
“Almost 5,000 are confirmed dead as a result of the persecution, with many times that number killed in organ harvesting atrocities,” Falun Dafa said.
