TINIAN and Agape Christian School shared the spotlight in the U12 girls division of the 2020-2021 McDonalds’s-PSS Elementary All School Track & Field Championships at the Oleai Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday.
Tinian snagged four gold medals. Navaeh Cabrera started Tinian’s winning streak in the softball throw event which she won with a distance of 31.6m.
Finishing second was Oleai Elementary School’s Indirha Chalanag with a distance of 24.7m while Agape Christian School’s Barbara Wang was third with 21.65m.
Tinian’s second gold medal came in the 200m sprint where Ysabella Lenteja crossed the finish line with a time of 31:43 defeating Kagman Elementary School’s Page Blanco (34:28) and Saipan International School’s Aubrey White (34:97).
Ysabella Lenteja added another victory to Tinian’s column by winning her third gold medal in the 100m event with a time of 15:69.
KagES’ Page Blanco came in second with a time of 16:56 and school mate Paulani Dela Cruz was third with a time of 16:81.
In the 60m event, Ysabella Lenteja delivered Tinian’s fourth medal with a finish time of 9:50 to beat Page Blanco (9:93) and Paulani Dela Cruz (10:15).
ACS also had its fair share of podium finishes starting with Barbara Wang who won the 1500m race with a time of 6:54. In second place was SIS’ Suki Peng (7:42) while Faith Arriola (7:21) was third.
Barbara Wang kept the streak going in the 800m race with a time of 3:13 to clinch first place, defeating Faith Arriola (3:29) and Aubrey White (3:36).
Her third gold medal came in the 400m race where she clocked in at 1:17 ahead of KagES’ Page Blanco (1:26:42) who slipped past SIS’ Suki Peng (1:26:71).
In the long jump, KagES’ Page Blanco took first place with a 3.5m distance followed by Ysabella Lenteja (3.41) and Paulani Dela Cruz (3.10).
As for the U9 age category, Tinian’s Ka’isa San Nicolas led the pack in the softball throw with a distance of 26.25m. Oleai Elementary School’s Alina Esakova (20.4m) and SIS’ Beatrice Gross (20.1) were second and third.
In the long jump, Beatrice Gross covered a distance of 3.40m to beat OES’ Alina Esakova (3.29m) and SIS’ Leilani Ruszala (2.83m).
In the 1500m race, Windsor Gross had the stamina to keep a steady pace before finishing strong with a time of 7:14 while school mate Leilani Ruszala (7:23) came in second and SCS’ Allie Brasuell (7:24) was third.
Allie Brasuell led the 800m race with a time of 3:33 defeating SIS’ Lucy Woo (3:41) and SIS’ Leilani Ruszala (3:42).
SIS continued to win more medals as Windsor Gross topped the 400m race with a time of 1:29 followed by Brilliant Star School’s Scarlett Burrell (1:34) and Saipan Community School’s Allie Brasuell (1:39).
Beatrice Gross finished first in the 200m sprint with a time of 34:84 beating Brilliant Star’s Scarlett Burrell (38:59) and SIS’ Lucy Woo(38:81).
Beatrice Gross won another gold for SIS in the 100m sprint with a time of 16:67 while OES’ Alina Esakova (17:52) was second and OES’ Elena Teigita (17:85) finished third.
In the 60m sprint, SIS’ Neveah Arriola bagged first place with a time of 11:18 beating SCS’ Maria Haberman (11:43) and SIS’ Yummy Peng (11:56).
