THE TanHoldings Football Club is still undefeated in Division A of the Men’s M-League Spring 2021 after edging the Kanoa Football Club 3-2 Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
It was a slow game at first as neither team could find the back of the net. After countless attempts on both ends, it was TanHoldings that finally broke the ice thanks to the quick feet of Michiteru Mita, who connected the shot at the 20th minute mark to give his team a 1-0 lead.
THFC managed to keep the momentum burning during the transition into the second half as the team’s offensive pressure opened up lanes with Mark Esalan finishing the play at the 30th minute mark to extend his team’s lead to 2-0.
Not too long after, a third THFC goal was added by Tomas Abel.
Although the THFC players had the win in the palm of their hands, they had to be reminded that the game was not over until the last whistle was called.
At the 50th minute mark, Kanoa scored its first goal courtesy of Ian Maniago.
Hungry for a comeback, Kanoa’s relentless attacks then drew a THFC foul seven minutes later which allowed Sebastian Manabat a highlight shot via penalty kick to bring his team back to contention, 2-3.
Fortunately for the THFC players, they played smart and used the remaining time to their advantage, holding off Kanoa long enough to notch victory, 3-2.
Top contender
The U18 Team A is still one of the top contenders in Division A after bagging its fifth win of the season against The One Football Club, 3-0.
The stamina of the U18 Team A’s young roster kept the tempo set on high as speed got the better of The One.
Just one minute into the game, Reginald Pascual handed the U18 Team A the lead while Akira Kadokura fortified control with another goal at the 34th minute mark for a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.
The One players adjusted their strategy in the second half, preventing most incoming attacks, but the U18 Team A still slipped through the cracks at the 55th minute mark with Kadokura sinking the team’s third goal en route to a 3-0 victory.
