TEAM Familia edged the Hustlers 11-10 in a game of the 2nd Annual 2021 Co-Ed BudLight Softball League organized by the Tinian Athletics Sports Association.
The Hustlers were the first to draw blood with two runs in the opening inning via walk and fielder’s choice as Jayron and Lawrence slipped in before the Familia could notch three outs.
When it was the Familia’s turn on offense, its players answered back with two runs to even the score, 2-2.
The Hustlers continued to apply pressure by scoring three more runs that brought home Leo E., Ria and Leo P. to regain the lead, 5-2.
The Hustlers managed to keep the rhythm flowing and kept the Familia silent, but only for a brief moment as the Familia players found their second wind at the bottom of the third inning. They scored four runs that were highlighted by John who recorded two RBIs to give the Familia the lead, 6-5.
Despite the Familia players’ efforts, they could not get the Hustlers off their back. The Hustlers squeezed in a run at the top of the fourth and added four more in the fifth inning to grasp the upper hand once again, 10-8.
Fortunately for the Familia, its players’ relentlessness paid off in the end. Slipping in a single run at the bottom of the fifth and following it up with two more runs courtesy of Nicio and Bette, the Familia took the lead once again 11-10 and secured victory by snagging the three outs needed in the seventh and final inning to triumph over the Hustlers.
In the second game of the day, the Braves dominated the Battin’ Bees 12-4.
