THE Commonwealth joins the nation in celebrating Nurses Week from May 6 to 12 this year with Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation Chief Executive Officer Esther L. Muna, and CNMI Covid-19 Task Force Chairman Warren Villagomez extending their well wishes to the islands’ nurses.
“Nobody wants to go to the hospital, and that’s the truth,” the governor said. “People go to the hospital as the very last resort… and when they get to the hospital, it’s our nurses [who are] the first ones there. Their kindness [and] compassion go a long way.”
Drawing from his personal experience as a father of six children and a son to an elderly mother, the governor said he truly appreciates all CNMI nurses for taking care of their patients.
“I want to acknowledge all of our nurses. I want to thank them personally for everything that they have done… They are our first line at the hospital, and I want to give a shout-out to each and every single one of [them] from the bottom of my heart. You guys make a big difference the way you handle patients,” he said.
“On behalf of my family and the entire CNMI, we want to personally thank all of our nurses, as well as our doctors. Thank you for choosing the CNMI as your home and thank you for taking care of our patients. No matter what that cost is, no matter what situation you are having at home, you come to the hospital and you give your 100%, so again, I cannot thank you enough.”
CHCC CEO Muna, for her part, said, “To all of the nurses, thank you for all you do. We’re very, very happy that you’re here and always protecting us.”
CNMI Covid-19 Task Force Chairman Villagomez is also thankful for “all the nurses and the medical providers here at CHCC for all of their compassion and support throughout this response and every day of our lives.”
