THE number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the CNMI since March 28, 2020 is now 146 after another traveler tested positive on Monday, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. spokesman Lee Tenorio said.
He also clarified that the 145th Covid-19 case on Saturday was identified on the fifth day of testing, and not upon arrival on island as earlier reported.
As for the 146th case, CHCC said the individual was identified by travel screening and confirmed diagnosis through testing upon arrival at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport.
The individual is safely in quarantine and has been moved to the designated isolation area for close monitoring.
CHCC said it has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed case, including passengers on the same flight.
Of the CNMI’s 146 Covid-19 cases, 120 were diagnosed through travel screening, 10 through community-based testing and 16 through contact tracing. There had been two deaths in March and April 2020.
Currently, seven persons are in isolation while 150 have been released based on CHCC and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
On Guam, as of Monday, there was a total of 7,751 officially reported cases of Covid-19 with 133 deaths, 23 cases in active isolation, and 7,595 not in active isolation.
