Joeten-Kiyu Public Library presents a series of author talks as part its 28th anniversary

The author events started Thursday, Dec. 19, at 4:30 p.m. with an informal Q&A with Walt F.J. Goodridge, author of over 24 books including several about Saipan including “Chicken Feathers & Garlic Skin: Diary of a Chinese Garment Factory Girl on Saipan,” “Saipan Living,” “Saipan Now,” “From Bugle Boy to Battleship,” and “There’s Something About Saipan.” Walt answered participant questions and spoke informally on “The Wins and Woes of Being a Saipan Writer” including where ideas come from, how to stay motivated, etc.”

Lino Olopai, author of “Rope of Tradition” will be the featured guest speaker on Friday, Dec 20. at 4 p.m.

There will be an “Author Fair-Meet & Greet” all day, Saturday, Dec. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring Jane Mack, Lynn Tenorio, Denita Yangetimai, Lino Olopai, Walt Goodridge and Zaldy Dandan, Marianas Variety editor and author of “Die! Bert! Die! & Other Fictions,” “We’ll Kiss Like It’s Air and We’re Running Out of It,” and “How I Learned What Really (Probably) Happened to Amelia Earhart.” Authors will have books on sale.

The Meet & Greet will be followed by a special guest presentation at 3 p.m. by Jane Mack.

This unique 28th anniversary series of events kicked off, Thursday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. with book donations by U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, and also includes bracelet making demonstrations, an online scavenger hunt, art classes, Christmas carolers and much more over the three days!
